ISLAMABAD: The accountability court, hearing the remaining two corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, on Monday decided to write a letter to the Supreme Court (SC) to seek an extension in the deadline for wrapping up the cases.
According to reports, the court has drafted the letter in which Judge Arshad Malik told the apex court that he was yet to complete recording of the statements of three witnesses, therefore the duration of the trial should be extended.
It is pertinent to mention here that the fifth deadline set by the SC for the completion of the trial of the PML-N supremo in Al-Azizia and Flagship references has ended, however, the trial has not yet completed.
The apex court had given a six-week time to complete the trial on August 6 and it has ended. It has also extended the deadline for the completion of the trial against Nawaz Sharif’s children four times in past.
