Reacting strongly to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) announcement of launching protests against Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry Monday said that those who have plundered the wealth of the nation would be held accountable despite all protests.

The minister was addressing the media in Islamabad.

Denying involvement of the government in the arrest of PML-N President Shehbaz, Fawad said that all state institutions were working within their constitutional limits. He called for respecting state institutions instead of ridiculing them.

The information minister said that the hue and cry of the opposition could not put an end to the accountability process, adding that “they [opposition] are finding excuses to stage walkouts.”

Earlier in the day, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah told media that protest demonstrations will be staged outside the national and Punjab assemblies on Wednesday if the government fails to call fresh sessions of the two houses by tomorrow.

In a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC), chaired by former premier Nawaz Sharif on Monday, the PML-N decided to launch a protest against Shehbaz’s arrest.
