Transgender candidate for by-polls aims to work for community’s rights

Guru Shahid Resham, a transgender candidate for PP-217 from Multan, announced she will work for humanitarian causes and uphold constitutional rights of the transgender community.

After the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Naeem, Resham will be contesting the polls against several candidates including Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Members of the transgender community including Rubi, Shabbana and Jan Chaudhry announced that they will collect funds to bear the expenses of the political campaign.

“No previous government has worked for the rights of transgender people due to which they end up begging or dancing at events in order to earn a living.”

“You should fight for your right when no else will stand up for it,” she stressed.
