Former premier Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif met at the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Lahore office, a local media outlet reported on Sunday.
Shehbaz’s sons Hamza and Salman Shehbaz also accompanied their uncle during the visit.
Reportedly, Nawaz also took food items for his younger brother during the visit. During the meeting, they discussed the future strategy after which the visitors returned home.
Earlier, it was reported that Shehbaz’s sons had met their uncle at the Sharif family’s Jati Umra residence to discuss the future course of action.
On Saturday, NAB obtained a 10-day physical remand of the PML-N president who is being questioned for his alleged involvement in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme scam.
Shehbaz, while speaking to the media, had termed his arrest and the charges leveled against him as being politically motivated. The same reaction was shared by the opposition parties which alleged that the arrest was directly linked with the upcoming by-elections which are set to be a major test for the ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The two major opposition parties, PML-N and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), despite initial differences, finally announced to support each other in the upcoming by-polls.
