KABIRWALA: A man allegedly killed his wife and son for honour in Kabirwala on Sunday.

According to police reports, Shaukat Ali, a resident of Mahni Sial vicinity, murdered his wife Parveen and 11-year-old son Abdul Rehman using a sharp tool.

The accused’s 20-year-old daughter Maryam was critically injured during the attack.

Police arrested Ali and are investigating the incident.

Incidents of rape and honour killings are frequent in Pakistan, with most victims forced into silence. In the case of killings for ‘honour’, the accused are often pardoned by other heirs of the victim.

In September, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry stressed that honour killings should be treated as “Fasad-Fil-Arz”, calling upon the Punjab government to reject compromises in judicial proceedings pertaining to such cases.
