Burglars steal lamps, taps worth Rs70,000 from Sri Lankan envoy’s residence

Unidentified people on Saturday stole lamps and taps worth Rs70,000 from the high-security residence of the Sri Lankan High Commissioner Major General (r) Jayanath C P  Lokuketagodage in Islamabad.

An official of the Sri Lankan high commission here filed a complaint with the police, stating that thieves had stolen brass lamps and bathroom taps from the high commissioner’s residence, according to a media report.

The total value of the stolen items was estimated to be around Rs70,000. However, the lack of security or the inefficiency of the security provided to a foreign envoy has shocked local law enforcement agencies, who have now launched a full investigation to catch and punish the culprits.
