Upper parts of country to experience rain on Monday

ISLAMABAD: Weather experts have indicated that a fresh westerly wave will affect the upper parts of the country on Monday and produce light rain until Tuesday, further decreasing the night temperatures.

Talking to APP, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Meteorologist Rashid Bilal revealed that the fresh westerly wave will enter the country’s upper parts and produce light rains on both Monday and Tuesday morning.

He said that the temperatures at night are expected to fall further during this upcoming spell while day temperatures will fall during the next spell of rain.

Comparing the present weather conditions with last years’ weather in October, Rashid Bilal revealed that the month of October and November during the last year were mainly dry which is why winter was delayed.

“However, the met department has forecast three rain spells during the month of October this year which reflect an early onset of chilly weather,” he said.

He attributed the reasons for these abrupt changes in weather systems to global climate factors, impacts of changes in North Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, El Nino and La Nino etc. “The weather is moving in a positive direction as of now,” Rashid Bilal observed.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) report, the weather will remain dry in most parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) on Sunday.

The synoptic situation indicates a prevalence of continental air over most parts of the country.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours in KP was Kalam 12 mm, Dir 04, Pattan, Mirkhani, Drosh 03, Chitral 01 and Punjab: Muree 01 mm.

The maximum highest temperatures recorded during the period were Mithi, Tandojam, Chhor and Turbat were 41 C.
