KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday summoned National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials on the application of the former Logistics Additional Inspector General (AIG) Tanveer Ahmed Tahir against the sentence given to him by the accountability court.
SHC judge Iqbal Ahmed Kalhoro issued the order on the application filed by Tanveer Ahmed Tahir against the punishment of 10 years in jail awarded to him on the charges of Rs50 million corruption committed from Sindh police funds.
The SHC issued notices to NAB officials and sought a reply from them till next hearing. The court adjourned the hearing till 26th October.
The reference, filed by the NAB against Tahir, alleged that he generated bogus bills to get huge funds in name of fuel allowance. The administrative of the accountability had sentenced Tahir to undergo 10 years in jail with a fine of Rs25 million. However, the court had acquitted former Finance AIG Syed Fida Hussain Shah.
NAB had told that funds were issued on the name of CNG station, but police were not given petrol. The money was transferred to the account of head constable Muhammad Rafiq.
