ISLAMABAD: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on Thursday won the National Women Basketball Championship.
The defending Champion WAPDA beat Pakistan Army in the finals by 54 – 45 points. Lahore secured the third while Karachi the fourth position in the five-day championship held at Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Hameedi Hall here.
As many as 10 teams participated in the championship including WAPDA, Pakistan Army, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Hyderabad and Hazara.
WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (r) was the guest of honour in the finals. The players and the officials of the finalist were introduced to him prior to the match.
Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF) Patron-in-Chief Mian Iqbal Farid was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony, who gave away trophies, medals and prizes to the players and the officials of the winning teams.
