Underage marriage bid foiled in Naundero

NAUNDERO: Underage marriage attempt was foiled by Naundero police on Thursday after the girl named Sania informed 15 police emergency centre in Larkana that her marriage is being forcibly carried out against her will in Ghirghal Shah Muhalla, Naundero.

The police emergency centre immediately directed Naundero DSP to conduct the raid, recover the girl and take her into protective custody here late on Wednesday night.

Naundero DSP Shahjahan Shah told the media that she was produced before the District & Sessions Judge, Larkana, where Sania stated that she wanted to go to the house of her another maternal uncle (Mama) named Aijaz Kumbhar which was allowed by the court as per her statement.

DSP further said that for breaking Nikah, the court directed her to file suit in relevant Family Court.

According to details, a 15-year Sania, 8th class student, first informed 15 police emergency centre in Larkana on Wednesday night about her forcible wedding and demanded immediate protection. After the call, DSP along with police party rushed to the area, conducted a surprise raid in Ghirghal Shah Muhalla, Naundero, and took into protective custody Sania and her mother Maria and arrested her would-be-groom Salim Kumbhar.
