Schoolteacher abducted for rejecting marriage proposal

A schoolteacher in Jhang’s Shor Kot Tehsil was allegedly abducted for refusing a marriage proposal.

According to police, the 24-year-old was a teacher at Government Girls’ Primary School in Chak No 406-JB. Her mother also worked at the same school.

Police added that the victim was at school when accused Abdul Rauf, Muhammad Saqlain, Shakeel, Ramzan, Abid and others barged in and allegedly abducted her at gunpoint. Her mother alleges that she had been kidnapped for rejecting a marriage proposal and a prior kidnapping attempt had been made at her home. She reported the incident but the culprit managed to get bail from Lahore High Court (LHC).

The Waryam Wala police station has registered a case against the accused under section 365-B and started investigations. Relatives and family of the victim lodged protests outside the district police officer (DPO) office and education department.

When contacted, SP Investigation Imtiaz Mehmood said police were tracking the accused’s call records adding that they will be arrested soon. He added, “The victim will be recovered soon.”
