ISLAMABAD: On the directions of Supreme Court (SCP), the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated action against un-regulated structures in Bani Gala and issued notices to more than 400 houses located in the vicinity including Prime Minister Imran Khan, whose mansion spans on hundreds of kanals.

According to the documents available with Pakistan Today, the notice served under the CDA Ordinance 1960 asks the residents that “the field staff of CDA has reported their property owned/ constructed/ occupied by them located in Estate of Mohra Noor, commonly known as Bani Gala, falling in Zone-IV (B) of Islamabad Capital Territory has been identified as un-regulated structure in terms of above referred regulations.”

The notice asks the owners to submit their building plans along with the full details of ownership certified by concerned revenue authority for the approval “as per provisions of relevant regulation combined with other regulations of Islamabad Residential Sectors (Building Control) Regulations, 2005 within two weeks from the issuance of this notice.”

It said that the authority will take action against those failing to comply.

The notice also highlighted that the residents can get the details of regulation laws from CDA’s website.

On Monday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing a case on illegal constructions and encroachments in capital remarked that Prime Minister Imran Khan must set an example for others by regularising his Bani Gala property in accordance with the law.

“PM Khan should be the first person to pay the fine so others who also own properties at Bani Gala can follow his footsteps,” remarked Justice Nisar while hearing Bani Gala encroachments case at the Supreme Court.

Sources told Pakistan Today that when BCS-1 Director Manzoor Shah and Planning Director Arshad Chohan reached PM Khan’s residence, the personal security staff refused to receive the notice.

However, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Staff Officer Nematullah Khan has said that the notice has been received after Imran Khan’s approval.
