LDA retrieves land worth millions in Johar Town

LAHORE: On the third day of the operation against land grabbers, illegal occupants and unlawful constructions, the staff of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) retrieved more than 25 kanals of land worth millions of rupees, situated in the Johar Town on Thursday.

The LDA staff demolished unlawfully constructed houses, shops, langar khana and other structures that had been built on around 15 kanals of land in Samsani graveyard, situated in block F-2 of Johar Town and retrieved possession of this land during the anti-encroachment drive.

Another chunk of 10 kanals of land was got cleared from illegal occupation by dismantling a plant nursery at site. The operation was completed smoothly as no house of the nearby katchi abadi was touched during the action and no resistance was offered by local residents on this occasion.

LDA Director General Amna Imran Khan has said that Punjab government is following a policy of zero tolerance for land grabbers. “Retrieving state land from illegal occupants is the top priority of the government. By launching a crackdown against the land grabbers, writ of the government is being restored,” she said, adding that the operation is being carried out without any discrimination and no one will be given any relaxation.

LDA Additional Director General Rana Abdul Shakoor personally supervised the operation. Heavy contingent of police was also present during the operation along with relevant LDA officers.
