A doctor in rural Sindh reportedly designated separate thermometers to give to patients depending upon their religion. In a picture making rounds on social media, the thermometers can be seen in two separate jars labelled with religion.

“This is another form of discrimination with minorities in name of religion. Now, in rural areas of Sindh, doctors have introduced Hindu and Muslim thermometers,” wrote journalist Mukesh Meghwar.

Twiteratti expressed disapproval at this act of discrimination, with one person calling it “horrible and deeply saddening”.

Retired businessman Haroun Rashid recalled a similar incident and explained how he had managed to deal with it.

“My house staff once requested separate crockery for the Christian maid. I asked them why they hadn’t made a similar demand the previous week when I had gora Christian house guests? Silence. Case dismissed.”

“Such kind of widening rift will never tolerated to become the part of Sindh rich civilization whose hospitality, love integrity and devotion is still famous across the world!” wrote another.

“While scientists are introducing shortest & sharpest laser pulses, “immune checkpoint theory” to the world which would bring revolution in cancer treatment irrespective of race & religion, we are introducing Hindu and Muslim thermometer! Islam never teaches discrimination & hatred,” noted another user.
