LAHORE: A 17-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday over his alleged involvement in the murder of his father and elderly grandmother in their home in the city’s Township locality.
According to reports, the bodies of 70-year-old Adeeba and her son, Umar Farooq, were found in their rooms with stab wounds and their throats slit open.
The police arrested Nakhil, and the alleged killer he had ‘hired’ for the crime within a few hours after the double murder.
Recalling the events of the incident, a police official shared that they were alerted by the neighbours about the murders. When they arrived the crime scene, the neighbours informed that Nakhil had luckily survived the murder.
However, upon questioning, Nakhil gave dubious statements raising doubts in the minds of the investigators. They obtained the footage from the CCTV camera installed at the house of the neighbours of the victims which showed the movement of a mystery man.
Further interrogation revealed that the mystery man was Jawad Ahmad, the son of former maid of the elderly woman.
The police traced Jawad and took him into custody for questioning. Jawad confessed to his crime and revealed that he had conspired with Nakhil to murder the woman and her son to obtain their property. He said Nakhil had promised to give him a share in the property he would inherit after their deaths.
The police sent bodies to the morgue for autopsy and lodged a case against the suspects.
