Concerts in every city you can think of, an international tour, lots of nostalgia and most importantly new music is what you can look forward to as sufi-rock band Junoon reunites after 13 years.
Junoon, which came out with a reunion performance of their track ‘Khudi’ on independence day, has been facing rumours of a reunion since almost immediately after their break up. And while lead singer and band founder Ali Azmat and Salman Ahmed have over the years repeatedly and with some ferocity denied these rumours, the two are finally back together, joined by their American drummer Brian.
In a recent twee, the band’s guitarist and current holder of the Junoon band Salman Ahmed posted a picture of the three rockstars sitting in the same pose as they did for their album cover from decades ago.
“Started rehearsing for Junoon reunion concert with Ali Azmat” he said along with the picture.

According to Salman Ahmed, the band would rehearse for the next couple of months until December, indicating that a new year’s concert might be on the cards.

The tweet was naturally met with an extreme outpouring of love and support, with a number of fans even making requests for concerts to be held in their cities. In the twitter interaction that followed, Ahmed hinted that Junoon would be playing not just in Islamabad and other cities of Pakistan, but also in Dubai.

When asked by fans, Salman Ahmed also confirmed that the band would not just be getting together to rehash their old songs, but is working on new music. He said, however, that the new music would come after their reunion concert. This could mean that they could either debut a new song at their reunion concert, or even just tease one or two if they are working on a new album.

Whatever the case, fans of the band are getting hyped for the reunion, the short independence day look at them back together only fueling the fire of their desire to see on of the biggest South Asian rock bands once again creating music.
