Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former senator Nehal Hashmi came under severe criticism when he called an anchorperson “the voice of PTI”.
According to details, Hashmi was invited at a current affairs talk show at Public News where host Saadia Afzaal asked him a question regarding PML-N leader Rana Mashood’s recent remarks regarding the alleged deal between his party president Shehbaz Sharif and the Establishment.

Upon being told to respond to the query, Hashmi criticised the anchorperson for her “biased introduction of the issue,” while calling her a representative of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
I was in this live prog on Public tv tonight at 8 pm
@SaadiaAfzaal Was personally attacked by Nihal Hashmi at beginning of prog. Saadia gave him befitting response. After all she is very experienced talk show anchor https://t.co/AHxVQp6Txu— Farooq Hameed Khan (@FarooqHKhan) October 2, 2018
Both the host and guests were unhappy with the allegations made by the ex-senator. Later on, Hashmi received flak from various journalists and senior politicians across social media who regretted his ‘baseless assertions’.
The media persons expressed their support for Azfaal. “All praise and support to you; our senior colleague and we look forward to you as Media students and professionals. Nehal Hashmi was a disgrace to his own party, family and people and he always will be. Don’t let them get into your head,” one Twitter user said.

On January 31, 2018, the Supreme Court had sentenced Hashmi to one-month imprisonment and barred him from holding public office for the next five years as it announced its verdict in the contempt of court case against the former PML-N stalwart.
