MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar indicted for violation of Loudspeaker Act

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar was indicted on Wednesday by a judicial magistrate over violation of the Loudspeaker Act.

Sattar has pleaded not guilty to charges leveled against him.

The court summoned witnesses and adjourned the hearing till October 17.

Sattar is currently on bail, as is his fellow party leader Waseem Akhtar. Previously, MQM-P leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Haider Abbas Rizvi had also been declared absconders.

“We want our missing workers to be recovered. Our partnership with the government should not be just all words and no action,” Sattar said while speaking to media outside the court.

“This project is a game changer. China and Pakistan are partners but India is finding ways to disrupt the CPEC project. The Indian army chief’s statement is also a link in the same chain,” he said. in reference to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The MQM-P leader added that circular railway included in the CPEC was a result of efforts by his party.
