Pakistani terror suspect refused entry into Philippines

MANILA: A Pakistan man suspected of working for the Islamic State (IS) group has been barred from entering the Philippines, the Philippines Bureau of Immigration said on Monday.

The man, identified as Naeem Hussain, was intercepted at Clark International Airport on September 22. He was travelling on an Emirates Airline flight from Dubai, Deputy Immigration Commissioner Marc Red Mariñas said.

“He was turned away because he is on our alert list of suspected international terrorists for being an alleged trainer of Daesh,” said Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente.

Hussain was consequently sent back to Dubai.

Hussain had claimed that he was visiting the country to meet his Filipino girlfriend and that he was a digital designer by profession.

He had also previously attempted to enter the Philippines, with records highlighting he tried to travel to the country in May. At the time, he was also intercepted and sent back to Dubai.
