Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government seems to be shying away from accountability and transparency despite tall claims.
He said that the purpose of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is to keep an eye on the affairs of the government and make them accountable, and the party which is named on justice itself is running away from it.
On the question of Information Minister’s statement that PAC’s chairmanship does not come off as a right of the opposition, Bilawal reiterated that there seems a lack of political will to go forward with the process of holding people accountable, demanding that the someone from the opposition is brought forward to head the PAC.
He said that PPP will raise the issues faced by the public, adding that PTI government is panicking with every day. He reminded that they had set a precedent by appointing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) leader Chaudry Nisar as the chairman of PAC during their tenure.
