3 injured, shops and vehicles damaged in Karachi cylinder blast

KARACHI: Three people got injured while shops and vehicles were also damaged in a suspicious blast near Matric Board Office in North Nazimabad on Tuesday.

As per media reports, a mysterious blast occurred in shops situated in a residential building in front of Rangers Head Quarters at block B of North Nazimabad Karachi.

The intensity of the explosion was so high that its sound was heard in different areas of the city. Police and Rangers cordoned off the area after they received information.

A medical store, burger shop and general store were affected by the explosion.

The owner of the general store was also the eyewitness of the incident, who said that he was closing his shop that suddenly an explosion happened, after which smoke and dust enveloped the area.

The gas cylinder was only in the affected burger shop, but its owner said that both 2 cylinders in the shop are in their proper condition and gas is also available therein.

At first, the local police and bomb disposal squad called it a gas cylinder blast and but termed it an incident of gas leakage.

No senior police officer reached the scene and on the other hand, the bomb disposal squad has said that apparently blast happened because of gas leakage and no evidence of presence of explosive material have been found.
