Another 41 luxury cars of PM House to be auctioned

ISLAMABAD: Keeping up with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s austerity drive, the government is all set to auction another 41 vehicles of PM House in the second phase of the drive, that also would include two bomb-proof vehicles.

In the first phase, the government had sold as many as 62 vehicles for Rs200 million. Seven luxury bulletproof cars were among the cars sold in the auction, while two bomb proof cars did not find buyers.

Four models of Mercedes, eight bulletproof BMWs, three 5,000CC SUVs and two 3,000cc SUVs of 2016 model were among the vehicles up for sale.

Moreover, 24 Mercedes Benz of 2016 model were also part of the auction. Two of the cars were 4,000cc bullet-proof vehicles.

On September 27, as a part of an austerity drive, the government had sold all eight Nili-Ravi buffaloes of Prime Minister House were sold in Rs2.3 million during an auction.

It is to be mentioned here that the animals were kept at the farmhouse of PM House during Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.

In his inaugural speech, PM Imran Khan stressed austerity measures. The premier stated that he would only keep with himself two employees out of 524 serving at the PM House. He also stated he would only use two cars.
