KARACHI: Sindh Assembly continued discussion of Sindh budget for 2018-19 on Saturday that was strongly criticised by the opposition, which termed it insufficient.
Mutahidda Qaumi Movement-Paksitan (MQM-P) MPA Kanwar Naveed said, “TherPakistanly two schemes in the budget for Karachi and Hyderabad, while many schemes had been of both cities had been withdrawn. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has spent Rs90 billion in Larkana, but it is a wonder that Larkana is still deprived of many facilities.” He said conflict might happen in Karachi over water crisis.
PPP leader Imtiaz Shaikh said they would continue to serve the people of Sindh despite obstacles. He said, “CM has presented a tax-free and balanced budget which will benefit the people of Sindh.” He said PPP had always presented public-friend budgets and would bring more projects for the people of Sindh province.”
PTI leader Haleem Adil Shaikh spoke against the Sindh government over insufficient budget. He said people elected them to resolve their problems, but the Sindh government in its 10 years failed to address the issues facing Sindh.
“At least 47 children died in Thar in this month due to food shortage. Budget is being increased year by year but the people of Sindh are happening poor day by day while culture, education, health and irrigation departments are being ruined. PPP has to give accountability of its 10 years. He asked the Sindh government to resolve the problems facing the people of Sindh,” he maintained.
Nasir Hussain Shah of PPP said Sindh government in its every tenure served the people of Sindh. The bridges over Indus River and canals were constructed in PPP government. Nation Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) hospitals are the proud of Pakistan which were also carried out by PPP.
PPP legislator Saeed Ghani said K4 water project was started in 2007 and its root was also fixed at that time. Karachi is facing water shortage, but Sindh government had been working on different projects to provide water to the people of Karachi.
PPP leader Syed Qaim Ali Shah said those criticising the Sindh government and PPP had always been remained in government but they did not address the problems. PPP had maintained law and order in Sindh and cooperated with law enforcement agencies.
Opposition Leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi strongly criticised the policies of Sindh government and brought documents of its past 10 budgets. He said today PTI is in federal government and it had a vision to bring change in Pakistan by defeating the corruption. He said all institutions have been ruined while corrupt people were recruited in all institutions, which brought huge corruption to all institutions.
