Irfan breaks Guinness World Record of an Indian

ISLAMABAD: With an aim to promote the softer image of Waziristan, the martial arts athlete Irfan Mehsud has achieved another feat, by cracking the record for the most side jumps in one minute, of an Indian.

Irfan who hails from Tehsil Ladha of Waziristan broke the record of most side jumps in one minute by 112 jumps was approved by Guinness World Records on Sunday. Earlier the record was held by Indian Jayanath Reddy of 102 side jumps in one minute.

Talking to APP, Irfan who is also running an academy in Waziristan ‘Jackie Chan Wushu and Martial Arts Academy’ said with every record he breaks, he aims to show the softer, better image of Waziristan and Pakistan to the whole world.

“Our country is full of talent and potential. By breaking records, I want to show the world that we are not behind than any other nation in sports,” he said.

Irfan also has broken several Guinness World Recodes including most side lunges in one minute 54, the most full contact knee strikes in one minute using one leg is 87, the most push-ups (one leg raised, carrying 40-lb pack) in one minute is 31, the most push-ups with one leg raised and carrying as 80-lb pack in one minute is 21, the most knuckle push-ups with one leg raised and carrying as 40-lb pack in one minute is 25, the most Bo staff strikes in one minute is 261, the most full contact knee strikes in one minute (alternate legs) is 83, the most thumb push-ups in one minute is 35 and most full contact elbow strikes in one minute (one elbow) is 128.
