–PML-N Senator Mushahidullah says PM Khan will have to remove Fawad Chaudhry as minister

–Some ministers tasked to cause destruction, PPP’s Chandio claims

ISLAMABAD: Lawmakers in Senate have called for the immediate resignation of Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry after his fiery remarks during the National Assembly (NA) session.

On Thursday, the NA session was reduced to a ruckus when Chaudhry launched a strong outburst against former opposition leader Khusheed Shah among others, saying the former rulers bankrupted the country and “they must be hanged upside down” for this crime.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Mushahidullah Khan has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will have to remove Fawad Chaudhry as information minister.

After Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Friday chaired a Senate session, Mushahidullah moved a privilege motion against Chaudhry’s remarks in the NA a day earlier.

The information minister had criticised the previous governments of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Responding to the minister’s allegations that Mushahidullah appointed his brother and cousin in top posts in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the senator said, “His (Fawad Chaudhry’s) information is based on lies.”

“Chaudhry said I used to load luggage in the PIA but I just want to clarify for the record that I had completed my BA-LLB before the information minister was born,” he added.

Further, Mushahidullah demanded Chaudhry to provide evidence that he appointed his brother and cousin on top posts. “If the information minister fails to provide evidence, then he will have to issue an apology on the floor of the House.”

Referring to a verse by Habib Jalib ‘jab kameenay aurooj pay jaatay hain to aapni aukat bhol jatay hain (when a sordid person crosses his limits, they forget their worth)’, Mushahidullah questioned, “Are you [Chaudhry] Rangeela Shah or the minister of Madina.”

He also warned to “remind the minister of his grandmother.”

“PM Khan will have to remove Chaudhry as minister,” the PML-N senator further asserted.

Meanwhile, PML-N’s Murtaza Javed Abbasi said Chaudhry should be banned from attending parliament proceedings for a month. “Is this the attitude of ministers in an Islamic welfare state?”

PPP Senator Maula Bux Chandio stated, “Some ministers are part of the incumbent government to cause destruction.”

Earlier in the day, Chaudhry tendered an apology for making the aforementioned remarks.
