LAHORE: The city district government, in a meeting with the Auto Union, has fixed the prices for both local and imported helmets amid City Traffic Police Lahore’s (CTPL) ongoing crackdown against helmet rule violators.

During the meeting, the authorities decided to fix the prices of local and imported helmets to Rs500 and Rs1,150, respectively.

The step has been taken to control the helmet prices hike after the Lahore High Court (LHC) passed the orders to take a strict action against the violators. CTPL, in line with orders of the LHC, is imposing fines of Rs1,000 to motorcyclists.

Moreover, it was decided in the meeting, that a stern action would be taken against shopkeepers who would be found selling helmets for more than the standard rates.
