Abhishek Bachchan has had his fair share of criticism when it comes to upholding the Bachchan name. Always the one to ward off trolls in a gentle fashion, Abhishek recently shared an incident from his life in which a woman criticised him for “embarrassing” his family’s name.
Recalling the incident which took place in in 2002 at the screening of his film Shararat, Abhishek shared, “It was a tough time. I had once gone to Gaiety Galaxy to see how my film [Shararat] was doing; a lady came out and slapped me and said you’re embarrassing your family’s name, stop acting.”
He continued, “Thankfully, I’m able to laugh about it today, but at that point, it was not a very good feeling.”
Abhishek recently returned to the screen after a break of almost two years with Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan, alongside Taapsee Paanuu and Vicky Kaushal.
Speaking on why he stayed away from the cinemas, Abhishek had said, “It was a personal decision about how I want to approach my work. It wasn’t the kind of work I was doing or anything. It was just that I felt I as an actor had become a bit complacent.”
Abhishek is expected to be seen next alongside his wife Aishwariya Rai in Gulab Jamun.
