LAHORE: Minister for Information and Culture Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan on Thursday issued a notification forming an advisory council on culture comprising renowned personalities related to art and film industry.
The members include Punjab governor’s wife Perveen Sarwar, Yousuf Salahuddin, Ayesha Ali Bhutta, Syed Noor, film actor Shan, Muniza Hashmi, Aseer Ahmed Khan, poet Amjad Islam Amjad, actress Saba Qamar, drama artist Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, drama artist and TV host, Vasay Chaudhary, Rana Nauman, Sonia Azhar, singer Sahir Ali Bagga, Gulalai Khan, Tallat Azim, Imrana Tiwana, Amina Raja, Juggun Kazim, Rai Saqib Kharral and Sanwal Attaullah Esakhailvi.
The members have been tasked to provide expertise and input related to the culture and creative industries. Further, the council would also advise the government in terms of policies and legislation required for the development of arts and culture.
Also, they would be expected to provide ideas related to sustainable economic development through cultural activities, specially by providing quality community services. Formation of cultural organisations and promotion of exchange programmes would also be under the mandate of the council.
