The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday asked Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to take notice of Dr Shahid Masood and Sabir Shakir’s usage of derogatory language against the commission in their television programmes.
“Dr Shahid Masood from News One and Sabir Shakir from ARY News, in their programmes, made an analysis of the political arena wherein a very derogatory and impertinent language was used against the ECP. Needless to mention that the entire discourse on the distribution of reserved seats for women in the National Assembly was based on wrong, falsity and self-interpretation,” the letter stated.
ECP said that a rebuttal in this connection has already been issued and asked PEMRA to investigate why any action was not taken against the anchorpersons under PEMRA law.
