Sri Lanka announces scholarships for students from SAARC countries

ISLAMABAD: The Sri Lankan government has announced merit-based scholarships to students from each of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries including Pakistan for the year 2018.

In this regard, the High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Islamabad also informed that the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) has offered degrees in the fields of Information Technology (IT), Business, Engineering, Architecture and Quantity Surveying.

Talking to the media on Monday, an official from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) advised candidates to send duly-filled applications with other supporting documents to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Pakistan before 5 October 2018.

He further said that the details regarding the scholarships were also uploaded on HEC’s Website. The SLIIT, while recognising students with outstanding academic performance offers merit-based undergraduate scholarships to nominees from SAARC countries with full tuition-fee waivers to different degree programmes.

The SLIIT Scholarship covers the full tuition fee for the entire duration of the degree programme. The duration of the scholarship will be three years in case of three years degree programme while four years in the case of an Honours degree programme.

The monetary value of a four-year SLIIT SAARC Scholarships will be in the range of $15,200 in the IT degree programme, $15,200 in the Business Administration degree programme, and $20,800 in the Engineering degree programmes.
