Sindhi to be made compulsory in all private schools across province

Sindh’s Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah and School Education Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervaiz directed the private schools to hire teachers who can teach the Sindhi language to students across the province.

According to a local media report, the Director General, Directorate of inspection of private schools Dr Mansoob Hussain Siddiqui, has also sent letters to private schools that are not following the orders to immediately make Sindhi a compulsory subject.

As of now, Sindhi is being taught to students in schools that follow the Matric system but not the ones that follow the Cambridge system.

Moreover, as per the Form B of the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulations and Control) Rules 2005, “All educational institutions are required to teach children the Sindhi language.”

The order came into effect after a resolution was passed in the Sindh Assembly seeking the same for students in classes’ three to nine.
