ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar deposited Rs100,000 in the Supreme Court-Prime Minister’s Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund.
The CJP made this announcement during a special transmission of a local satellite television news channel.
This is the second donation by the top judge, who donated Rs1 million for the two dams while kick starting the initiative in July.
Directing the authorities to immediately start construction of the two dams, the CJP also urged all institutions and individuals to play their due role for the construction of the dams in the country.
So far, more than three billion rupees have been collected in the fund.
The Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund was initiated by CJP Nisar earlier this year. After assuming office, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that his own fund would be merged with that of the CJP and urged Pakistanis to contribute to the fund.
