ISLAMABAD: A case against 37 Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) activists in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has been withdrawn by authorities in Islamabad after they were booked for arranging protests against the state institutions, including the armed forces.

Police had earlier registered an FIR against PTM workers at Kohsar police station for chanting slogans against the state and Pakistan Army.

A special prosecutor submitted a statement on behalf of the government official, praying for the withdrawal of the case.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police ordered the arrest of PTM leader Manzoor Pashteen, MNA Ali Wazir and six others after they were declared proclaimed offenders.

A letter issued by a senior police official in Swabi had also declared Pashteen, Wazir, Dr Said Alam Masood, Fazal Advocate, Khan Zaman, Mohsin Dawood, Samad Khan and Noorul Salam as proclaimed offenders.

According to the FIR, PTM workers held a gathering at the cricket stadium in Swabi’s Shah Mansoor Town without the required NOC from the authorities. In the rally, the PTM chief and others reportedly made “contemptuous remarks” against the state institutions.
