Rawalpindi’s six housing schemes declared illegal

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) declared six housing schemes illegal and directed owners of the schemes to stop advertisement and development.

The notices issued to the CPEC Resort, Abdullah City, Khanial Homes, Bin Alam City, extension of the Capital Smart City and the Blue World City. RDA’s Director of Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Jamshaid Aftab declared advertisements by these housing schemes illegal and unauthorised.

Under section of the Punjab Private Housing Schemes and the Land Subdivision Rules 2010, notices are being issued to the owners of the schemes. They are warned to stop advertisement on electronic and print media immediately otherwise RDA would seal the site/booking offices of the schemes.

The RDA advises general public in their own interest that they should not make any investment in any illegal and unauthorised housing scheme which status declared illegal by the RDA. Otherwise, they themselves are responsible for their losses.

Director Jamshaid Aftab also requested the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) and PTCL, not to extend services to these illegal schemes as its status was unapproved.

RDA spokesman Hafiz Muhammad Irfan said that RDA Director General Rana Akbar Hayat has directed the MP&TE director to take strict action against illegal and unauthorised housing schemes their development and construction of booking and site offices without any fear or favour.
