PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) Monday granted bail to the two suspected murderers of Charanjeet Singh, a prominent member of Peshawar’s Sikh community.

On 29 May, in the Scheme Chowk area on Kohat Road within the limits of Inquilab police station, unidentified men had opened fire at Singh, killing him on the spot while immediately fleeing the area.

As a result, two men — Shehryar and Tariq, were arrested on 14 and 21 June, respectively, however, the police have not been able to prove the charges against them.

While speaking to media following the Monday’s hearing, the defendants’ lawyer said Singh’s family did not record any statement against them. The court has thus granted bail to the two suspects.
