ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday launched an investigation against Khursheed Shah, former leader of the opposition in National Assembly and senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), over charges that he has amassed assets beyond his known sources of income.
Shah’s son and son-in-law have also been included in the investigation, according to reports.
The accountability watchdog in Sukkur has contacted various institutions and sought the assets record of the PPP leader.
Several investigations have been launched by NAB against different PPP leaders in the past two years but none of them have completed till date, according to reports.
The probes against Manzoor Wassan, Aijaz Jakhrani, Nawaz Wassan, Rauf Khoso, Sohrab Sarki, former minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Sitar Rajpar, and Sohail Anwer Syal have not been completed, the reports added.
Shah is one of the central figures of the PPP. He served as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly during the last tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N). He secured victory in the last general elections from NA-206 constituency in Sukkur.
