ISLAMABAD: In a coordinated effort to eradicate polio from the country, a nationwide anti-polio campaign will commence in all provinces on Monday.
In KP, more than six million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign. About twenty-five thousand teams have been constituted. These teams will go door to door to ensure the administering anti-polio drops to the children. Polio teams will also be available at railway stations, bus stands and other public places. Special security measures have been taken for the security of polio teams.
In Balochistan, about nine thousand mobile teams have been constituted to administer anti-polio drops and Vitamin-A to 2.5 million children during the three-day anti-polio campaign.
A four-day anti-polio campaign will begin in AJK in which over seven hundred eleven thousand children up to five years of age will be administered the vaccine and Vitamin-A drops.
Anti-polio drive in Punjab would begin on Monday and would continue till Wednesday. Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said Sunday that elimination of polio is the top priority of the Punjab government and anti-polio drive would be observed according to the plan. She also appealed parents and teachers to become ‘helping hands’ in the anti-polio drive.
In Sindh, anti-polio drops along with the supplement of Vitamin A would be administered to over 2.3 million children up to five years of age in all 188 union councils in the metropolis for seven days. More than 9000 polio teams will perform their duties in the campaign.
