Malnutrition kills two minors in Tharparkar as Sept death toll rises to 34

THARPARKAR: Two minors dead due to malnutrition in Mithi as death toll for September climbs up to 34.

A girl died at the Civil Hospital Mithi on September 20 because of malnutrition, the health department said.

1,500 children die because of malnutrition, disease and poor medical services in Tharparkar, according to health department data.

“Pakistan is the riskiest place to be born as measured by its newborn mortality rate,” a UN report on infant mortality released earlier this year said.

“A baby born in Pakistan is almost 50 times more likely to die during his or her first month than a baby born in Japan, Iceland and Singapore,” the report added.
