KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Saturday announced that he will challenge the July 25 poll results of NA-245, Karachi.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Sattar said, “I have prepared a petition to challenge NA-245 results in the election tribunal,” adding, “I will provide evidence and witnesses.”

The MQM-P leader was hopeful that his petition will be heard and a decision taken in his favour.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Amir Liaquat Hussain had emerged victorious from the NA-245 constituency in the July 25 polls with a total of 56,615 votes. Sattar has secured 35,247.

Meanwhile, Sattar resigned from the MQM-P’s top decision-making body, Rabita Committee, last week.

Earlier, Sattar had also claimed that he had received an offer from PTI to join the party and contest the by-election on Dr Arif Alvi’s NA-247 seat. He further shared that he was consulting his close friends over the offer.
