Celebrating the suspension of sentences of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar in a rather unique way, a fruit vendor has drawn the attention of several social media users for distributing free bananas.
“Come and join Nawaz Sharif in his hour of happiness! Free bananas for all!” the vendor can be heard as saying in a video making rounds over the internet. “Nawaz has been set free… so has been his daughter! Take these bananas, go home and offer Nafl prayers to thank Allah for this blessing!”
Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the sentence of the Sharif family members in the Avenfield Reference case. The court ordered their release from Adiala Jail against the surety bonds of 0.5 million each.
