Shafqat, Belarus ambassador for promoting cooperation in field of education

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood during his meeting with Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Ermolovich on Wednesday discussed the prospects of bilateral Belarusian-Pakistan cooperation in the field of education threadbare.

Pakistan and Belarus have signed a number of agreements and protocols in the field of education including the roadmap for developing cooperation between the Belarus and Pakistan in the field of education for the period of 2017-2002.

The education minister stated that Pakistan and Belarus enjoyed good relations in the field of education and professional training and the incumbent government gave top most priority to education and emphasised the need to further promote their cooperation with Belarus in this field.

He said that a number of MoUs and Protocols have been signed between Pakistan and Belarus but we need to work on their rapid implementation and further strengthening this cooperation.

Shafqat said that the Joint Ministerial Committee on Education between the two countries will be made more efficient and effective. He also thanked the Belarus ambassador for the technical support that was provided to Pakistan by his country in the establishment of Skill University.

“Pakistan will seek and benefit from the support and expertise of Belarus in the field of Skill Development and will now start exploring new avenues of cooperation in the field of education and skill development”, added Shafqat.

Ermolovich said that a number of agreements and protocols have been signed by Belarus with all the major universities and with the provincial and federal government for the promotion of education between the two countries. “We will provide Pakistan all-out support in the field of education and skill development and besides the implementation of existing protocols, can work on new projects”, added the ambassador.

Both sides agreed to hold further meetings and to coordinate for the progress of education and increased cooperation between both countries.

Earlier, the federal minister was also called on by Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Erik Beishembiev and in the call on the prospects of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan cooperation in the field of education was discussed.

Both sides agreed on the establishment of linkages between universities of Pakistan and Kyrgyz in the field of medical, agriculture, defence and strategic studies and agreed to work for the promotion of skill development.
