The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has reacted strongly against the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s move to lease the headquarters of Radio Pakistan.
The federal government has decided to lease the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Headquarters located at the Constitutional Avenue of Islamabad. The Radio Pakistan staff has been asked to vacate the building.
Reacting to the decision, PPP Central Information Secretary Nafisa Shah called it “yet another PTI attack on state property.”
The seven-storey building in the heart of capital city was inaugurated by former prime minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on 20th December, 1972.
“The party credited with attacking the PTV would never understand the value of these state institutions,” she added.
Shah said that the government was on a plunder mission, demanding of the government to not only revoke the decision but also to invest in the national radio and add value by switching to digital technology to reach out to listeners worldwide.
