Meera Jee turns producer, sets up production house

Meera Jee is on a literal roll. After establishing herself as an actor, performer and social activist, she is all set to step in the shoes of a producer.

Late Tuesday night, the veteran Pakistani actor took to Twitter to announce that she will be setting up a production house and requested the support of her fans.

Meera’s official spokesperson, Iqbal Khowaja, shared on Twitter, “I have partnered up with Meera Jee to create a production house that will create TV dramas and impactful movies to bring social change, poverty elevation, justice, dignity and humility.”

He added, “We need your support, guidance and love.”

Pakistan Today got in touch with the actress to get more insight into her latest venture.

Meera shared that her production house will initially make short films for a Youtube channel that she will be setting up soon. Her content will mainly focus on women and children and their problems along with an aim to uplift the cinema industry in the country.

“Our mission is to empower women through our movies. We will make films and content that will highlight problems faced by children and women so that awareness is created,” Meera said in a telephonic conversation with Pakistan Today.

Meera Jee has lately been spending a lot of time with special children at a centre in Karachi.

She further shared that her production company will have branches in Lahore, Karachi and Los Angeles, US.

When asked whether her production house has a film lined up, she revealed that her film Baji, directed by Sajid Malik, is currently in its post-processing stage and is scheduled to release soon. She will be playing the lead in the film.

Meanwhile, Meera Jee also sent luck and wishes to the Pakistan Cricket Team ahead of their match against India in the Asia Cup 2018, scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

Giving a special mention to Sarfaraz Ahmed, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Amir, Meera said, “I am praying for Pakistan cricket team. The team is very good and motivated. My best wishes to all Pakistani players.”
