SC forms ad-hoc committee to probe irregularities in PKLI

ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday announced an interim verdict on the suo motu notice taken over alleged financial and administrative irregularities in the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI).

As per the details, the apex court constituted an ad-hoc committee headed by Justice (r) Iqbal Hameedur Rehman and comprising Lieutenant Gen (r) Shahid Niaz, Saifullah Chatha as well as Khusro Pervez.

The verdict compels the committee to carry out a complete audit of the hospital’s affairs and submit its report within 30 days. It can also seek the services of financial analysts.

 

The committee has been ordered to take charge with immediate effect.
