Pak-China military cooperation vital for both countries: top Chinese general

BEIJING: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday met the vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of China, General Zhang Youxia, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to the military’s media wing, Gen Youxia, during the meeting, said that China greatly valued its time-tested relations with Pakistan and its army.

Gen Youxia said that China was looking forward to further expand this cooperation and that development of CPEC was aimed at bringing more benefits and prosperity to the people of both the countries.

The CMC vice chairman termed Pak-China military cooperation as an important pillar of bilateral relations and said that the two militaries should further strengthen the cooperation to safeguard common security challenges.

Further cooperation in the fields of counterterrorism, arms and equipment technology as well as training was also discussed in the meeting.

The COAS, at the occasion, thanked the vice chairman for Chinese support and cooperation.
