Manto, a biopic on the life of the late Urdu writer, Saadat Hasan Manto, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the author-playwright. The film opened to a star-studded screening with several Bollywood actors including Rekha and Shabana Azmi in attendance.
Nandita worked closely with the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to facilitate the visas of Manto’s daughters so that they could attend the premiere in Mumbai. Manto’s family has actively supported the making of the film by providing Nandita with several stories and material which gave her a personal insight into the life of the writer, father and husband that Manto was.
Earlier, Nandita also shared pictures of herself and Nawazuddin hanging out with Manto’s family when they reached Mumbai.
