Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan continues to live in the hearts of the people, despite it being 18 years since her tragic demise. In the latest, it has been revealed that her ex-husband, Ishtiaq Baig, is reportedly making a film on her life, without her family’s consent.

Nazia’s brother, Zoheb, in a social media post late Sunday night wrote: “The Hassan family has come to know that Nazia’s ex-husband is trying to make a film on her life so he can feature himself and further profit from her name and fame.”

He continued that if this project goes ahead, the family will be taking legal action against those involved.

“Anyone entertaining this individual shall be duly and legally sued by our family as he has no legal right or basis to do so. Furthermore we hold full publishing rights of all our music worldwide and any attempted infringement of our catalogue shall be subject to legal cost and consequence,” Hassan further wrote.

Zoheb has previously revealed that a biopic on Nazia is currently in the works. He said that a script has been finalised and he along with the filmmakers are looking into the casting. However, no further details were shared.

Nazia, one of the most notable names in Pakistan’s music history, plummeted into the spotlight with Pakistan Television’s (PTV) programme Sung Sung. Her award-winning single Aap Jaisa Koi, sung at the age of 13 for Indian movie Qurbaani, made her a beloved icon both at home and in South Asia.
