China satisfied with CPEC security

–Chinese Gen Han acknowledges high professional standing of Pakistan Army during meeting with Gen Bajwa

 

RAWALPINDI: China has appreciated the high degree of security being provided to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) by Pakistan Army, the military’s media wing said on Monday.

According to a press statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited headquarters of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and met its chief General Han Weiguo where the latter appreciated the security provided by Pakistan for the protection of CPEC.

Both commanders discussed the regional security environment, security of CPEC and bilateral security cooperation.

The PLA chief appreciated and acknowledged high professional standing of Pakistan Army displayed while combating terrorism, ISPR said, adding that the Chinese general expressed his keen desire to benefit from Pakistan Army’s combat experience and also expand bilateral cooperation.

The army chief thanked his counterpart for hosting him. He said that the armies of both countries have a history of cooperation and there were vast avenues for further enhancing the same.

Earlier, upon arrival at PLA HQ, General Qamar Bajwa was presented a guard of honour.

Gen Bajwa is also scheduled to meet Vice Chairman Central Military Commission (CMC) Gen Zhang Youxia.
