Police officer alleged of robberies in DHA arrested

Karachi police on Saturday claimed the arrest of a serving policeman who was allegedly involved in house robberies in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) of the metropolis, a private media outlet reported.

The suspect, Moeed Nisar, was arrested by Sahil police station officers. The alleged police officer is a serving policeman of Prisons Department, South SSP Omar Shahid Hamid said.

Police said that on September 2, the arrested suspect along with his accomplice had committed a house robbery on Khayaban-e-Ghalib in DHA and looted cash, foreign currency, gold ornaments, and other valuables.

With the help of CCTV footage, the law enforcers identified the motorbike which was driven by the held suspect. It was then revealed that prison policeman Moeed owned the motorbike.

Jail authorities informed the investigators that Moeed had been absent from duty for the last 20 days. However, due to the police’s persistent efforts, they managed to arrest the suspect and recover the motorbike used in the robbery.

SUSPECTED TERRORIST ARRESTED:

In another instance, Defence police arrested a suspected terrorist Dildar Ahmed and recovered one hand grenade and a stolen motorbike from his possession.

“The held suspect is linked with banned Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM),” claimed SSP South Omer Shahid Hamid.

He along with his other accomplices had prepared four ball bombs, which were thrown at Zamzama in Clifton, Samama Shopping Centre in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Saddar and Safoora Chowrangi, respectively, in the year 2014.

“The motive was to spread fear and panic among the people and this mission was given to them by one,” the SSP claimed.
