KARACHI: A court on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Babar Khan Ghauri after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a corruption reference against the former federal minister for ports and shipping.

The NAB has opened an investigation into the alleged corruption of billions of rupees against the former MQM senator.

Furthermore, former chairman of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Javaid Hanif and the names of eight others have also been included in the corruption reference.

According to the reference, those named in the reference are accused of illegal appointments of 940 people in KPT causing losses amounting to Rs2.885 billion to the national exchequer.
